Is It Really The Changing Of Seasons That Causes (SAD) Seasonal Affected Depression?
by Stress Attack on November 21, 2010
in General
The idea is similar to the fact that if you used to suffer from depression in your past and then one day someone hurt and caused you pain, possibly it can awaken your depression that disappeared for quite sometimes. But remember the one who hurt you now is not the same one who caused your depression in your past. Your present encounter just brought back the sad memories of the past and that’s the reason why you feeling depress again. Similarly, the weather is not the cause of your depression, it just trigger the feelings of sadness you had once before.

Think of this, 10 years ago during the coldness of winter, you got divorce with your spouse; it caused you severe pains and heartaches that stayed in your heart for long time. You terribly suffered for that emotionally and only the passing of time was able to heal your broken heart. One thing we need to understand is that once the heart is wounded, it becomes more fragile and susceptible to pain. This is because our brain is like a recorder; aside from the capacity to record events happen in the past and can also describe the feelings we had and retains it. As our mind recalls back those sad times, the heart feels the pain. But our brain cannot just go back to it if nothing reminds it.

So going back some 10 years ago, when the winter was so cold and freezing, your spouse left you, now you may have already forgotten your spouse but still the pain can be ignited by occurrences related to it. And that is the winter cold. So every year when the cold is there, the pain is also there. So really it is not the weather that cause your depression, it is your life’s frustration that is tied up in it.

Others can feel the same type of anxiety and (SAD) seasonal depression during summer, others in spring and still others, they feel it in autumn. But most common, many people suffer from it in winter time. This is because, winter time which is known to have many holidays and a time for family reunions and gatherings, they are alone. This can make them feel negative that they are left behind and forsaken. And knowing that winter time creates sad environment, their emotions can be closely link to it. When trees seem to be all dead, when there’s no more green leaves, no more flowers and no more beautiful bird’s songs, when the sun hardly appear in the sky, when the moon and the stars seldom shine in the night, their hopes and dreams fall down. Loneliness and emptiness will envelop their world thinking there’s no way to brighten up. These are the causes of sadness that usually occurs during winter time.

There are so many television programs out there that try to help people plan for trips to Disney World. This is one of the very few that has been made over the last few years that really gives helpful information and shows what Disney World is like for families traveling there. People want to get the most out of their time and money and this program will help! It not only shows parents traveling with children but also groups that include grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends, newlyweds, etc, so it grabs an audience from a wide spectrum of ages. Documentary Review:History of the Bible

History of the Bible
Zion Reformed Church seminar held on 1/23/08. Pastor Matt gives a history of how we got the Bible.
Development
The Old Testament canon entered into Christian use in the Greek Septuagint translations and original books, and their differing lists of texts. In addition to the Septuagint, Christianity subsequently added various writings that would become the New Testament. Somewhat different lists of accepted works continued to develop in antiquity. In the 4th century a series of synods produced a list of texts equal to the 39-to-46-book canon of the Old Testament and to the 27-book canon of the New Testament that would be subsequently used to today, most notably the Synod of Hippo in AD 393. Also c. 400, Jerome produced a definitive Latin edition of the Bible (see Vulgate), the canon of which, at the insistence of the Pope, was in accord with the earlier Synods. With the benefit of hindsight it can be said that this process effectively set the New Testament canon, although there are examples of other canonical lists in use after this time. A definitive list did not come from an Ecumenical Council until the Council of Trent (1545–63)

It was fairly presented with guests ranging from the late Jerry Falwell to John Dominic Crossan (the Jesus Seminar fame). It is a comprehensive investigation into the authorship of the Bible. It presents a simplified and clearly explained view of the Documentary theory of the Pentateuch. It is not a propaganda on either the right or the left. It is vey informative and balanced.

Documentary Review:Who Wrote the Bible

Who Wrote the Bible
Country:UK
Language:English
Release Date:25 December 2004 (UK)
Genres:Documentary
Description:
Robert Beckford learned the Bible at his mother's knee and grew up believing that it was literally true.
But, 20 years on from his Baptist upbringing, Beckford is no longer so sure that 'the good book' is the pure, unadulterated word of God untouched by human hand.
For Beckford, who wrote the Bible matters more today than perhaps at any other moment in living memory.
His journey takes him from Birmingham to the West Bank, from Jerusalem to Turkey, and from Rome to Bible Belt America.
Review:
This 100+-minute documentary represents a quest by British theological scholar Robert Beckford to put the derivation and composition of the Bible into perspective for viewers of this Channel 4 (UK) presentation. He seeks to answer questions about how the books of the Bible were written, by whom, in what social and political context, and in what sequence. To what extent were they historically accurate? Were historical discrepancies material to their credibility and to Judeo-Christian traditions? Naturally, he starts with the first five books of the Old Testament, the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), all of which were supposedly written by Moses.

Actors:

Review:

This 1994 word-for-word depiction from the New International Version Bible of The Book of Acts is a wonderful addition to any Christian film library; directed by Regardt Van Den Bergh, it uses historically accurate costuming, and has the feel of what it must have been like in the time of the apostles, in their journeys throughout the Mediterranean countries.
It makes a great Bible study tool, and can be used either just to watch, or if you have a NIV Bible, to read along as the chapters unfold; also useful are the chapter and verse numbers on the lower right hand corner of the screen when each verse changes.

Description
An epic in the spirit of THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, this widely acclaimed motion picture is a meticulous recreation of the turbulent era of Jesus and the events that changed the course of history! Narrated by Golden Globe nominee Christopher Plummer (Best Supporting Actor, AMERICAN TRAGEDY, 2000), it’s the bold and powerful story of Jesus as told by his disciple John. The best-loved but least understood of the gospels, John presents a uniquely human portrait of courage and passion encompassing Jesus' entire three-year ministry, the final years of his life. Intimate and reflective, THE GOSPEL OF JOHN offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the incomparable life and times of Jesus Christ.
Review:
This movie, based on one of the modern language versions of the Gospel of John is fairly accurate and nicley filmed. Christopher Plummer narrates and the actor portraying Jesus does a fine job. The strength of the movie is that while it is filmed on a limited budget, the director, Eric Till, is up to the task of trying to get everything he can out of the sets, sights, and people in the movie.

Review:
by joepizza (United States)
I've seen both the Passion and this movie. In the Passion, Jesus is joking with Mary about a table he had just built. It was a segment that warmed my heart, made me smile and pulled the GOD Jesus a bit closer to me , making it easier for me to touch. BUt that was about it as far a warmth. I absolutely was blown away by the Passion. After seeing THIS movie, I realized how the the Passion could, in fact, be a FAR FAR BETTER movie if it blended a bit more of THIS Jesus.
I shake my head because now I realize that THE PASSION could have an EVEN GREATER impact on my heart and emotions if THE Christ in the PASSION was portrayed a bit more like Bruces, Christ. I would have fallen in love with the Christ in the PASSION even MORE. Thus making the incredible suffering he endured even more shocking and regrettable.
